I wanted to touch on the “parasitic comfort of self reliance”. It’s very easy to rely on yourself, especially when your environment growing up requires so, but I realized in adulthood that it manifested into distrust for others, even in simple tasks. It’s a healthy trait to an extent, but can easily turn into exhaustion and burnout. It will likely take a lifetime to unlearn but I have made so much progress in recent years.
